Registering on Peppol

If you want your company to be reachable on the Peppol network, you can register directly from your Billtobox account. The process is simple and can be completed in just a few clicks.

This action adds your company to the Peppol directory and allows other businesses to send you e-invoices via Peppol.

How to register on Peppol

  1. Log in to your Billtobox account using itsme.

    ⚠️ Note:
    Your itsme account must be linked to your Billtobox account first. Read this article to link itsme to Billtobox (or to verify if it's already linked).

  2. Click the Peppol icon in the top-left corner.

  3. Click Publish.

  4. Once the icon turns green, your company is successfully registered on Peppol.

After registration

Once you've completed the registration:

  • Your company is visible in the Peppol network directory.

  • Other companies can find you and send you e-invoices via Peppol.

  • You will start receiving Peppol invoices automatically.

  • All received invoices appear in your Billtobox account.

Important notes:

  • Registration is reversible. You can deregister later if needed

  • Registration only affects Peppol receiving. Your Billtobox account continues to work normally

How long does it take to get connected?

New registrations are typically processed within a business day. If switching providers, timing depends on your current provider's deregistration process.

What is my Peppol Participant ID?

Your Peppol ID is your unique address on the Peppol network and consists of two parts separated by a colon:

  • Scheme ID: A four-digit prefix indicating the type of identifier

  • Participant ID: Your actual identification number For Belgium, the most common scheme IDs are:

    • 0208: Belgian Company Number (CBE).

    • 9925: Belgian VAT number.

    • 0088: GLN (Global Location Number). Used mainly by larger organizations with multiple locations.

For example, for a company registered to Peppol with the CBE number 0123456789, the Peppol Participant ID would be: 0208:0123456789

How can I check if I'm registered on Peppol?

If the Peppol icon next to your business name (in the top left of your screen) is green as shown above, you are connected to Peppol. You can also verify your registration by searching for your company name in the Peppol Directory.

Why do I need to use itsme to log in?

For security and legal verification reasons, Peppol actions require strong authentication to ensure proper authorization.

What happens if a supplier tries to send me a Peppol invoice before I'm registered?
They will not be able to find your company in the Peppol directory. You need to complete registration first for suppliers to send you invoices via Peppol.

Can I deregister later if I change my mind?

Yes. You can deregister from Peppol at any time directly from your Billtobox account.

Why is the Peppol icon in my account red?

This means you are already register with another Peppol access point. You must first deregister with them before you can register with Billtobox. Contact your current Peppol access point to know more about how to deregister with them.
