To register on Peppol, you need to link itsme to your Billtobox account. This connection provides the secure authentication required for managing Peppol.
Linking itsme to Billtobox takes less than 5 minutes and only needs to be done once.
Prerequisites
Before linking itsme, make sure you have:
An active Billtobox account
The itsme app installed on your smartphone
Your itsme account set up and ready to use
Linking itsme to Billtobox
Follow these steps to connect itsme:
Log in to Billtobox using your regular credentials (email and password).
Click the arrow next to your initials in the top-right corner of the screen, then click Password and security.
A new page opens. In the left menu, click Federated Identity.
Check if itsme is already linked:
If itsme appears under Active federated identities, it's already linked. You can stop here and register on Peppol.
If itsme is not listed, continue with the next steps.
Click the arrow next to Add another.
Under itsme, click Activate.
You're redirected to an itsme page showing a QR code.
Open the itsme app on your smartphone and click Scan QR code.
Scan the QR code.
Confirm the connection in the itsme app on your phone.
Once confirmed, you’re automatically redirected to Billtobox where you’ll see itsme is active:
If itsme is already linked to another account
If your itsme was previously linked to another Billtobox account, you'll see a message explaining that itsme can only be connected to one Billtobox account at a time.
This situation can happen if you previously tried to log in to Billtobox using itsme, but the email address in itsme was different from your Billtobox email address, which created a duplicate account by mistake.
What to do:
A message appears informing you that itsme will be linked to this Billtobox account.
Click Continue.
If a second warning appears stating that the other Billtobox account will be disabled, click Disable & Continue.
Your itsme is now connected to your current Billtobox account.
This situation can happen if you previously tried to log in to Billtobox using itsme, but the email address in itsme was different from your Billtobox email address, which created a duplicate account by mistake.
Important notes
Linking itsme to your current account will disconnect it from any other Billtobox account.
If you need to log in to a Billtobox account previously connected to itsme, use the forgotten password option.
All your data remains in your active Billtobox account.
You can now manage Peppol settings without issues.
After linking itsme
Once itsme is connected to your Billtobox account:
You can register on Peppol.
You can verify if the connection is active anytime in Password and security > Federated Identity.
You can deactivate your itsme connection in the Federated Identity settings simply by clicking the Deactivate button.

What if I don't have itsme?
You need to download the itsme app and create an account before you can link it to Billtobox. itsme is available for free on the App Store and Google Play.

Peppol network actions require strong authentication to meet legal and security requirements. itsme provides verified identity authentication.
My itsme email is different from my Billtobox email. Will this cause problems?
If the email addresses don't match, the system may create a separate account when you first try to log in with itsme. Follow the steps in the "If itsme is already linked to another account" section above to resolve this.
Can I link multiple itsme accounts to one Billtobox account?
Each user of your Billtobox account can link one itsme account to Billtobox.
