Creating a credit note is a straightforward process that allows you to correct billing errors, issue refunds, or adjust invoices with ease. In this guide, we'll walk you through the essential steps to generate a credit note efficiently.
Go to your Accounts Receivable.
Click on Create new invoice.
Select the document type Credit note
Enter the document number of the invoice you wish to credit.
Select the customer.
Add the details of your credit note: Service/product, description, quantity, price, comments etc.
Click on Save to send the credit note at a later time or click on Save and send to send it right away.
Note: Once the credit note has been sent, make sure to mark it as refunded by clicking the Mark as Paid button. This action will automatically reconcile the amounts between the credit note and the selected invoice(s), reflecting any changes based on their payment statuses. Additionally, the event list for both the credit note and the associated invoice(s) will be updated accordingly.
Save or Save and send does nothing (no error message)
If the Save or Save and send button does not react and no error appears, a required field is usually missing. Check that each of these is filled in:
Customer: a customer is selected in the To: field.
Document number: a number is present (or auto-numbering is selected).
Document date and Due date: both are filled in.
At least one complete line: each line needs a Service/product, a Quantity, a Rate/Price, and a VAT rate selected.
Amounts: the totals are correct, with no rounding differences.
Once every required field is complete, the Save button works. If it still does not react, remove any attachments and try again, or contact support with your enterprise number.
